I tried to find the best skit from the January Jones episode of SNL. I really did. I like her on Mad Men and thought for sure it would be easy to “pick out the funny” from the rest of the episode but I just couldn’t do it. Not that it was an awful episode, just that it didn’t have anything memorable that would stir up a chuckle on repeat viewings (see “Greg is not an alien“)
So here’s the only thing I could come up with. The Monologue. Overall it’s fairly “meh” but toward the end, listen for a cute inside joke that made me laugh as a Mad Men fan. Fred Armisen just married Elizabeth Moss on Mad Men, hence his favoring “Peggy” over “Betty”. Hilarious I tell ya.

This fantastic Carter and Sons BBQ commercial had a great premise that I think was slightly ruined with the overuse of voiceover. The constant explaining following each joke seems to take away from the great delivery by Bobby Moynihan. A simple note at the beginging from the company explaing regret followed by the whole commercial uninterrupted would have been perfect. Still catchy enough to be stuck in my head all day…..SWIIIINE FEVER

Once again, Bill Hader makes this sketch but I had to wonder, why did the decided to use Keenan instead of “The Rock” as the co-host? I know he’s not a regular cast member but, unless the cold open was pre-taped, Dwayne Johnson was already there to be “The Rock” Obama. Most of the laughs from the first “Greg is not an Alien skit” came from Johnson’s delivery and interaction with Hader. That said, Keenan trying to calm “Greg” when he got excited was good stuff. And the tail. What can be said about the tail? Comedic gold.
