This fantastic Carter and Sons BBQ commercial had a great premise that I think was slightly ruined with the overuse of voiceover. The constant explaining following each joke seems to take away from the great delivery by Bobby Moynihan. A simple note at the beginging from the company explaing regret followed by the whole commercial uninterrupted would have been perfect. Still catchy enough to be stuck in my head all day…..SWIIIINE FEVER

“Mostly Garabage” is one of the better SNL commercials in recent memory. And with the “current economic conditions”, it really hits home. Don’t get me wrong, I like dogs, but this definitely falls into the “Funny because it’s true” category. The ending, when Jason Sudeikis says “…because he’s a dog”, reminded me of one of my all time favorite SNL commercial quotes from Will Ferrell’s classic “Dissing Your Dog”:
Oh right Margaret, you wanted Prime Rib. Here’s the deal. The Palm wasn’t taking reservations and we don’t want to try Morton’s because I understand they have a new chef. So for now, let’s just go with the Alpo, ok. I know it’s not your first choice, but keep in mind….[whispers]YOU’RE A F*%$ING DOG!!!

So Pepsi decided to try and be creative with their “Pepsuber” Super Bowl ads and use a (unless I’m delusional) barely popular SNL skit that is a take off on the old MacGuyver series.
Wow, brilliant marketing plan Pepsi. Using a double inside pop culture reference to seem “hip.” So basically you narrowed down your demographic to:
People who watched MacGuyver, a show that was mildly popular in the 80s
People who watch Saturday Night Live and stay up past Weekend Update and have actually seen the MacGruber parodies
People who actually laughed at said parodies
So congratulations Pepsi, 3 people enjoyed those commercials. EPIC WIN!
